Savoring Every Last Bite and Moment in Maine

A Day of Coastal Cafés, Farm Stand Finds, and Pizza Garden Magic

Oh, Maine. You are not making leaving you easy! The last two days of adventuring have made us fall even more in love with this state. With our departure coming in just a few days, we’re wrapping up loose ends at the cafe and hoping to sell off the last of our equipment. But today? Today was still just ours, and we took full advantage!

Something Good for today is having the opportunity to savor the moment!

We kicked off the morning bright and early with a trip to Sea Folk Coffee in the coastal town of Rockport. This spot has been on our radar for ages—Instagram-worthy in every way! We’d tried to visit before, but caught them on a closed day. Let’s just say, it was worth the wait. Coastal Maine towns already have my heart (definitely an ocean town kind of person here), but add a charming coffee shop with tasty pastries and a deck overlooking the harbor? That’s the dream start to any day.

Chris went for a breakfast sandwich and an iced americano, while I had the Cardamom Pear cake (because cake for breakfast is always a good idea) and a cortado. We also shared two cookies—delicious! If you ever find yourself in Rockport, Sea Folk Coffee is a must-stop.

As we left, Chris realized we were close to Bleeker and Greer, a butcher, cafe, and market also in Rockport. We’d been there once before and had the best burger in Maine! Sadly, burgers weren’t on the menu today, but the place is still worth a visit. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century one-room schoolhouse, Bleeker and Greer started as a full-service butcher shop selling Maine-raised meats and poultry in 2012. Now, they’ve grown to include a bakery, cafe, grocery, deli, wine, and beer. Even without the burger, it’s a gem.

With no real plans for the rest of the day and our burger dreams dashed, we started searching for another spot to eat. Enter Tinder Hearth, a place I’ve wanted to visit ever since hearing about it at the Lost Kitchen. Located in the rural community of Brooksville (population: 923) on the Blue Hill Peninsula, Tinder Hearth was serving pizza tonight—perfect timing!

While we were killing time waiting for Tinder Hearth to open, we stopped at a local organic farm stand and found some amazing produce! The stand was overflowing with fresh, vibrant vegetables and fruit—everything looked like it had just been picked that morning. There’s something so special about discovering local gems like this, and it made the wait for pizza even sweeter.

Tinder Hearth opens at 4:30pm and usually requires reservations (which I may have overlooked), but they kindly made room for us. The whole experience was magical. Sourdough pizzas made with the freshest local ingredients, served on mismatched dishes. Dozens of picnic tables are scattered across a multi-acre garden surrounded by vegetable and flower beds. The menu is small and simple, but the quality is next-level.

Chris ordered the Meat pizza: chicken adobo, sweet corn, cilantro cream, basil, and marigold. I went for the Vegetable pizza: cherry tomato confit, green coriander, ricotta, brown butter, and honey. Brown butter is my weakness, so I was sold immediately! Both pizzas were incredible, but the Vegetable pizza stole the show. Green coriander was a new discovery for me, and now I’m obsessed. Herb garden dreams are officially on the list for our next home.

We don’t usually do dessert when we go out, but after seeing the options, we couldn’t resist. We shared a sundae with husk cherry sauce, basil, sweetened condensed milk, and melon on vanilla soft serve. The flavors were out of this world! Honestly, we almost regretted sharing.

As an added delight, a handful of pastries from the morning were still available, so there was a chance to indulge in one last treat before heading out. The almond croissant was absolutely outstanding—light, not overly sweet or heavy, and every flavor came through beautifully. Being quite particular about almond croissants, this one easily ranks at the very top of the list!

Maine, you’ve truly spoiled us.

With just a few days left, we’re soaking up every last bit of this beautiful state. Today was a reminder to savor the little joys—good coffee, delicious food, and the magic of discovering new places. Maine, you’ll always have a piece of our hearts.
